MAYOR, COUNTY EXECUTIVE CUT RIBBON FOR MICROS-FIDELIO DIRECT'S MAJOR EXPANSION AT NEW LOCATION IN THE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT ZONE
TRIPLES SIZE TO 18,000 SQUARE FEET; NEARLY 50 NEW EMPLOYEES ADDED IN THE PAST YEAR IN FAST GROWING TECHNOLOGY FIRMBuffalo, NY- Mayor Anthony M. Masiello joined County executive Joel Giambra and Matt O'Connor, Executive Vice President of MICROS-Fidelio Direct to cut the ribbon for another rapidly growing technology-based company in Buffalo. MICROS-Fidelio Direct (formerly known as Frontier Business Technologies), Western New York's largest provider of point-of-sale equipment for the restaurant and hospitality industry, has experienced a tremendous growth spurt in the past year, necessitating larger office space to accommodate their nearly 50 new employees. In September, MICROS-Fidelio Direct relocated from Northeast Buffalo to 260 Michigan Avenue--the heart of the city's emerging Exchange Street Corridor and the Economic Development Zone--taking 18,000 square feet of formerly vacant space. Locating in Buffalo's Economic Development Zone provides MICROS-Fidelio with a variety of incentives which include reduction in utility rates, tax credits and property tax abatements.
In July, MICROS Systems, a leading provider of information technology systems for the hospitality system, purchased Frontier Business Technologies, creating MICROS-Fidelio Direct. Originally founded in 1955, Frontier Business Technologies had a client base which includes Burger King and Delaware North concession companies. All of the existing clients are now served by MICROS-Fidelio Direct.
"We are pleased to have completed this important and strategic acquisition," said Tony Allman, Area Vice President for MICROS. "The addition of the former Frontier Business Technologies organization provides MICROS with an expanded area of direct market penetration, an excellent addition to our client base, and a strong, vital management group to supplement the existing MICROS organization."
"It's not every day that we get to celebrate an expansion that triples the size of a local company," said Mayor Anthony M. Masiello. "We welcome MICROS-Fidelio Direct to the Exchange Street Corridor and Economic Development Zone and are especially pleased to have another rapidly growing technology business in the Downtown area. The more technology-based companies we nurture, the stronger our economy--and our appeal to other burgeoning businesses--becomes."
"We've been a Buffalo company for over 45 years and really didn't want to relocate outside the city," said Matt O'Connor, Executive Vice President of MICROS-Fidelio Direct. "We are very proud to be part of this highly recognized company and the prestige a company like MICROS brings to a growing city like Buffalo. We are also extremely grateful for all the support we've received from Mayor Masiello, the Buffalo Economic Renaissance Corporation and Ellicott Development Company, enabling us to make this move Downtown."
MICROS has been recognized as one of the 200 best small companies in America by Forbes Magazine and was named in the top 100 Hot Growth Companies in a Business Week ranking of the best small companies in the U.S.
