BUFFALO (3/23/00) - The Downtown Buffalo Parking Infrastructure Task Force today presented Mayor Anthony M. Masiello with their recommendations for future downtown parking developments.

The Task Force, composed of the City of Buffalo; Buffalo Urban Renewal Agency; City Board of Parking; Buffalo Economic Renaissance Corporation; NFTA; Buffalo Civic Auto Ramps, Inc.(BCAR); Buffalo Place Inc.; and the Greater Buffalo Niagara Regional Transportation Committee, was formed in 1999 following an analysis that determined the downtown core lacked adequate parking for potential business expansion and development. That information was compiled by the Buffalo Board of Parking and BCAR. Following the release of that information, Mayor Masiello called for a comprehensive downtown parking analysis.

Desman Associates, in association with Economic Research Associates, was hired by the Task Force to conduct the parking and access study.

"The work of the Downtown Buffalo Parking Infrastructure Task Force has provided invaluable recommendations for implementing necessary parking access as the business expansion and redevelopment of Downtown Buffalo continues to unfold," stated Mayor Masiello. "I am grateful to the dedication of the Task Force members, particularly Keith Belanger, who, as chair of the Task Force, demonstrated his keen understanding of this important component of future downtown development and the value of private/public partnerships that benefit our community."
