FORMER LTV PROPERTY TESTING CONTINUES

BUFFALO (6/23/99) - In an ongoing effort to ensure appropriate protection of public health, the City of Buffalo will continue testing of properties for nearly owned by Donna-Hanna Coke/LTV. The properties are located on and around Abby Street in South Buffalo.

The LTV Corporation transferred these properties to the Buffalo Urban Renewal Agency in 1992 for residential development. Having completed the initial testing of four properties located on Abby Street, the city will proceed with comprehensive testing of the remaining former LTV-owned residential properties.

"Our priority is public health and the testing will enable us to gauge exactly what the disposition of the soil is," stated Mayor Anthony M. Masiello. "The city's Office for the Environment is seeking additional assistance from the New York State Department of Health in interpreting the soil analysis."

The testing of the additional properties will commence Thursday, June 24, 1999.
