BUFFALO (1 / 13/99) - Mayor Anthony M. Masiello this evening conducted a three-hour meeting with city, New York State, Erie County and National Guard personnel who will contribute to the City of Buffalo's ongoing effort to remove snow from city streets.

"Operation Snow Removal will tie together the continuing influx of personnel and snow removal equipment that has been pouring into the city over the past several days," stated Mayor Masiello. "We've experienced an unprecedented amount of snowfall over the past two weeks and our city personnel have worked tirelessly day and night to keep our streets open. The added assistance from Erie County, surrounding municipalities, New York State and the National Guard will enable us to make the final push in removing snow from our narrow residential neighborhoods. Their contributions are extremely helpful and we are grateful for their assistance."

Beginning at 7:00 am tomorrow morning, ten Operation Snow Removal teams will deploy to specific sections throughout the city operating forty-three pieces of snow removal equipment. Their activity will add to the thirty pieces of city-owned equipment already on the streets.

The entire effort will be coordinated out of the city's Broadway Garage headquarters. For specific information regarding the coordination of the Operation Snow Removal teams, media may contact Ed Marr on his pager at 460-8530.
