Buffalo, NY-Mayor Anthony M. Masiello and the Buffalo Economic Renaissance Corporation announced today that Fabrication Conception Mecanique Plastique (FCMP), a French precision manufacturer of advanced aerospace and automotive components, will locate in the City of Buffalo at 80 Clyde Street in the city's Economic Development/Empire Zone. The company will create 100 jobs over the next four years. A member of the BERC Board of Directors was credited with his assistance in inspiring the interest of the French based FCMP who had considered sites in Cleveland, Chicago and the Buffalo suburbs. Also lauded by FCMP were Buffalo's Economic Development Team, consisting of the BERC, ECIDA and Empire State Development Corporation.
FCMP is the first international company to locate in Buffalo in several years, an indicator of Buffalo's growing reputation for workforce productivity and strategic market location. The project was made possible by the availability of a 20,000 square foot spec building, illustrating that spec buildings can be rapidly leased via prevailing market forces. FCMP will open its Buffalo doors on November 1, 2000.
"FCMP's decision signifies that the City of Buffalo has the ability to attract international companies because of our competitive advantages," said Mayor Masiello. "We are pleased that they have decided to locate in our Economic Development/Empire Zone which provides a variety of incentives for growing companies. Of special note is the coordinated efforts of the BERC, ECIDA and Empire State Development Corporation who crafted an attractive and decisive package of benefits for FCMP."
Originally formed in 1980, FCMP has grown to 115 employees. Their accelerated growth trajectory has led them to predict employing 275 people in both Europe and Buffalo by 2003.
