BUFFALO (4/13/99) - Recalling the City of Buffalo's Clean and Green designation for 1999, Mayor Masiello today announced "Operation Spring Clean," a unique state/city partnership to clean and maintain three major roadways and their contiguous proper-ties. Coordinated by the city's Department of Streets and Sanitation, the effort includes the Mayor's Impact Team and the New York State Department of Transportation.

"Beginning on Monday, April 12 , the city's Department of Streets and Sanitation commenced a comprehensive clean-up effort along Route 33, the Skyway and the Scajaquada Expressway," stated Mayor Masiello. "The collaborative effort will continue through this Fall. The goal is to maintain a clean appearance on major gateway roadways into our city; I am particularly grateful for the cooperation and assistance of the New York State Department of Transportation."

Street's Commissioner Paul Sullivan and NYSDOT Regional Director Robert Russell will coordinate the deployment of personnel and equipment. The effort commenced yesterday (Monday, April 12 1h) on Route 33.

"While this effort is key to our overall image, it will only be successful if every citizen helps by not littering and encouraging their fellow citizens to help keep Buffalo beautiful," noted Mayor Masiello.
